Are you navigating the complexities of trauma, wrestling with the echoes of PTSD, finding yourself ensnared in the grips of depression, or exploring the world through a neurodivergent lens? If the challenges of daily life are becoming overwhelming, or if seemingly small stressors trigger disproportionate responses, therapy can be a beacon of hope and a pathway to resilience.

Annie specializes in addressing PTSD, trauma, depression, and the experiences of neurodivergent individuals. Her therapeutic practice is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a strong emphasis on positive psychology, strength, wellness, and prevention. She champions a strengths-based approach to therapy, designing personalized plans that empower clients to identify their goals and enhance their well-being. Annie's repertoire includes a range of evidence-based treatments tailored to individual needs, such as EMDR therapy for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for depression, and innovative approaches for engaging with neurodivergent clients.

Annie Sousa is nearing the completion of her Master’s in Counseling with a specialization in Child and Adolescent development at Northwestern University. Her robust educational background, including a BA and an MA from Florida International University, has been complemented by a diverse professional journey that spans communications, education, behavioral analysis, and significant volunteer work during the pandemic, assisting various communities in navigating their challenges. This journey, enriched by her experiences across the globe and her personal navigation as a neurodivergent individual, has imbued her with a profound empathy and a unique perspective on mental health care.

Offering support through telehealth, Annie is committed to working with individuals and families in Maryland and DC to build resilience, foster emotional connections, and empower them to take control of their lives. Her training, accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), and adherence to the American Counseling Association's Codes of Ethics, underscore her dedication to the highest standards of care. Annie's commitment to understanding, supporting, and validating the diverse concerns of her clients ensures a therapeutic experience that is both inclusive and transformative.
