Kristin E. Scopelliti - Psychotherapist

Kristin-Scopelliti

“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination.”

Do you find yourself wondering what you can do to feel better—less anxious, more confident, even happy? It seems like you’ve tried everything but nothing seems to work, at least not for very long. You may be able to support others yet you fall short on supporting yourself. You no longer feel like yourself and worry that it could get worse.

Imagine what it would feel like not to constantly worry and to be confident in your ability to handle challenging situations. Therapy is a step in practicing self-awareness and self-care.

Kristin Scopelliti is a Licensed Professional Counselor (PRC14931) who has over seven years’ experience working with individuals to overcome emotional and behavioral challenges. Kristin is a Certified Telebehavioral Health Professional (TBHP). Kristin’s expertise is in working with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, adjustment difficulties, obsessive and intrusive thoughts, depression, self-harming behaviors, disordered eating, and trauma and loss.

Kristin further has specialized knowledge and understanding of individuals diagnosed as having Autism Spectrum Disorder. Individuals with ASD may find themselves unable to form meaningful, reciprocal relationships with peers and loved ones due to difficulty interpreting social cues and their propensity to engage in repetitive or routine behaviors. Kristin is sensitive to recognizing that no two individuals with ASD will have the same symptoms manifested in the same way and is able to support these individuals in improving their overall quality of life and relationships with others.

Spending her professional life in the Washington, DC area, Kristin can relate to the challenges of living in a fast-paced area. Combine the city life with personal challenges and it may feel like your life is spiraling out of control. The ultimate goal is for you to be able to enjoy life rather than just get through it.

Using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based interventions, Kristin supports clients in recognizing thought patterns that cause distress in day-to-day functioning. Kristin is passionate about helping others regain emotional balance and overall confidence in being able to overcome those patterns that impede progress in sustaining a happier, healthier lifestyle.

Clients appreciate a collaborative, trusting, and supportive therapeutic environment. Kristin’s compassionate approachable demeanor facilitates clients to feel at ease. Together we’ll create a customized plan to get you back on track. We will set goals and examine challenges in order to identify realistic solutions and ultimately help you achieve a better quality of life.
